ERIC W. BRIGHT, CFAPORTFOLIO MANAGER & PRESIDENT Eric W. Bright, CFA is founder/president of Pennyfarthing Investment Management, L.L.C., an investment adviser specializing in portfolio management and consulting services since 2003.
He graduated with a B.S. in finance from Indiana University, studied international business at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands and earned an M.A. in history from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. As a compliance examiner with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, he conducted reviews of investment advisers, brokers and mutual funds. In 1997, he was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. At Fraser Management Associates, he worked closely managing portfolios under its founder James L. Fraser, CFA, who mentored him in the art of contrary investing. Bringing a progressive approach to his investment work, Eric believes that investors should be discerning when they allocate their assets. He has earned the FSA Credential, having passed two exams administered by the IFRS Foundation, a non-profit that has established industry-specific standards for corporate sustainability disclosures. More than sixteen hundred professionals globally hold the credential, including about eighty in Massachusetts. One of five investment professionals profiled in an issue of Business Ethics magazine, Eric has been an instructor of investment workshops through the continuing education division of Greenfield Community College. His articles have appeared in Barron's, Ruminations of the Contrary Investor, Growth Stock Outlook and Journal of Business and Society. He is a member of the CFA Institute, an international, nonprofit organization of more than 190,000 investment practitioners and educators in over 160 countries. In addition to fulfilling examination and experience requirements, charterholders agree to abide by CFA Institute ethical standards. Eric enjoys a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking and bicycling. He volunteers as a Bike Travel Advisor with the Adventure Cycling Association. |
